Beets With Orange Sauce


4 servings.


1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 cup orange juice
1 Tablespoon butter
1 (16-ounce) can whole beets, undrained


  1. In a saucepan combine sugar and cornstarch; add water, stirring until smooth. Cook over low heat 15 minutes, stirring; stir in orange rind, lemon juice, orange juice and butter.
  2. Place beets in a separate saucepan and heat thoroughly; drain off
  3. juice. Pour sauce over beets and serve.
